Brainspotting
Brainspotting may appear simple in practice, and yes it does involve what appears to be a magic wand! Don't be fooled as this brain-body based modality is a powerhouse and can help diminish the emotional charge and body sensations associated with experiences and file a memory in it's rightful place, freeing up your mind to focus on the present.
Brainspotting involves locating spots in the brain that correlate with the current experience or memory that you bring to your session. We then process the experience using mindful awareness.
You do not need to tell your story, to process your story. For some, telling the story is an important part of the healing journey but the choice is yours.
Brainspotting is also a powerful personal growth and expansion tool as it works within the deep subcortical regions of your brain - the home of creativity. You have the opportunity to begin to create the life you want, from the inside out. Anyone else getting goosebumps?!
EMDR
EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing can help you process experiences that have left behind limiting beliefs about yourself, others, and the world. Traditionally, this brain-based therapy has been used to effectively treat PTSD.
We can't erase our past but we can use EMDR to put memories in their rightful place, the past, allowing us to live more fully in the present.
EMDR is also helpful for processing life's challenges - the knocks we all get on this road of life that can leave us with unhelpful beliefs about ourselves. EMDR is a fantastic tool in it's ability to weaken negative beliefs and strengthen more adaptive ones. Say hello to next level personal growth!
